I have just been to Knebworth House and Gardens. The house is 500 years old, inside you get a real feel of what it was like in each era, as every room has been restored to how it would have been in that time.
The family have always had alliances with the royal family, with Elizabeth I staying there in 1571 for her summer holiday. Also Charles Dickens stayed there as he had connections with the family.
Knebworth is also famous for the rock and pop concerts that it holds. The fist concert was 20th July 1974 and this year 39,000 people attended. Previous artists include:
- Pink Floyd - 1975, 1990
- The Rolling Stones - 1976
- Queen - 1986, which was their last gig with Freddie Mercury
- Elton John - 1990
- Oasis - 1996
- The Beatles - 1996
- Robbie Williams - 2003
- The Who - 2006
