Whitby | Day 1

Hi !!!
I always seem to go to the same places on holiday, so for one I decided to go somewhere different, so I could see new sights and experience new experiences. So we went to Whitby...

On the first day we travelled to the place where we were staying and had a lunch-time stop a the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

I love the colours in this photo and how something very un-natural and brutal (scaffolding) looks so natural along side the plants.
This is one of my favourite photos from my holiday as I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and I managed to take the photo just before it flew away.
This was what made up the path into the visitors centre.

Family Weekend

Hi !!!
A few weeks ago I had a weekend with the family. We hardly ever meet up as we all have different commitments and live in different places in the UK. So in order to meet up we have to organise it in advance and plan the event.

The time when we met up to was to celebrate a few things combined:
  • Someone turning 60
  • Someone turning 65
  • 2 people retiring
The weekend had something happening each day with family which was lovely, as we were able to catch up.

On :
  • Friday - it was my uncles birthday so we went out to dinner in a restaurant
  • Saturday - I spent the morning preparing for the barbeque that was happening in the afternoon.
  • Sunday - we all went out for lunch in a pub, I had a lovely Halloumi and Pepper salad (I would highly recommend it)
I really enjoyed the weekend and I will look forward to the next time we all meet again and I would recommend you doing the same, also I find barbeques the perfect opportunity to do it as it is very relaxed and this time of year is perfect fro them.

Here are some of the pictures I took of the barbeque:

When I make kebabs I pre-soak the skewers, this time I did it in an  old Italian olive oil bottle, in which they naturally arranged themselves in a very artistic way.

The finished product...

The table spread, complete with my Grandmother and Grandfather's best plates, serving dishes etc. and cutlery as well.

The birthday cake we made, with real cream inside (Yum)

My Grandmother and Grandfather's silver cutlery with monograms on it, which I found out my Grandfather bought just after he set up his tailoring shop, as it was what you did in those days (this was in 1902).

Tidy ???

Hi !!!
I am one of those people who is in the constant battle of having an organised mess and just a mess where you cannot find anything, I am always battling the need to be organised so that I know where everything is and the effort it takes to do that when sometimes you just want to relax.

One of these places is my desk in my bedroom as it is the perfects place to put stuff when you cannot be bothered to put it away, but the there is the dilemma of when to I work ???

I find that my desk gets VERY messy very quickly, as soon as I place one thing out of place the whole thing turns into a tip.So recently I have had a massive tidy and organisation and I am fairly happy with how I am storing stuff so...

On my desk I am trying to keep the amount of stuff to a minimal.
I have:
  • "The Perks of being a Wallflower" by Steven Chbosky, which is my favourite book at the moment and I think it looks nice on my desk
  • A jar of misilanious things, which is useful to have access to, e.g. tic tac's, post-it notes, torch and tissues
  • Another jar but with magnets in for the white board I have above my desk, I find this system works really well for me as I make A LOT of notes and it makes it easier to see them all
  • A tin I bought in Cologne, which I think looks really nice on my desk, but at the I have not quite figured out what I am going to use it for
  • a fabric pouch that I made to put bits & bobs in. at the moment I am using it for the lip products I am using a lot at the moment, so that I can find them easily
  • Finally I have a photo of me as a child.
Hope to write again soon !!!
